Riven 04:54
RIVEN: I was offering you everything I had Knowing you would take it all Knowing you were a little mad You always had To be the one Who had the most When there was none Now we stand riven from ourselves We stand here driven to the edge I'm being carried on a wave Over your impassable walls I'm in your inner circle now Me the one you could never call You always had To be the one Who had the most When there was none Now we stand riven from ourselves We stand here driven to the edge Where it falls down We drift along We hit the ground dust it rises up To cover us To bury us Now we march up all these stairs Bend our knees and break a sweat It may all just come to naught Well we know just what we've lost It's just sad When it slips 'tween your fingers And your lips They miss the touch of flesh and glass All our feelings slowly pass Now we stand riven from ourselves We stand here driven to the edge Now we stand riven from ourselves We stand here driven to the edge

Sad Song 03:26
Somewhere on this road out there in the dark you keep driving on like a shooting star running from yourself tears of anger flow helpless then you shake and finally you slow to face an easy why to face a what comes next you dont really know you always thought the best of every life was yours the world was yours to claim but thats just not the way no thats not the way things break easier when you hold on too hard things bend out of shape fade like all the flowers that came and sweetend days by giving up their souls to pretty up your heart to pretty up your home who loved you everyday who did the best they could who let you fly away as earthbound there they stood what stays is memory what stays is how you shape and build your life again and let the future in things break easier when you hold on too hard things bend out of shape fade like all the flowers that came and sweetend days by giving up their souls to pretty up your heart to pretty up your home

Put on your face The one you kept away Years ago Knowing such a day would come and such a day It's here today Grinning through its rotting teeth Standing next to you Like a friend at a funeral its such a day Now we're okay Running from our darkest days Playing innocent Of this role we have to always always play Like a friend at a funeral...

Spinning 04:22
Spinning all around we're contemplating treason Here's an ugly truth We're fashionably out of season you're You're looking stranger Stranger by the minute Why do you run Do you remember all the times That you left the world behind Now you're doing it to me right now We look into the fires We say that someone's coming But all the dread inside It just another sign of Crumbling, cities, people, planets Spinning out of orbit Where will you turn Do you remember all the times That you left the world behind Now you're doing it to me right now Why do you run Do you remember all the times That you left the world behind Now you're doing it to me right now

Fireflies 03:38
there seems to be nothing written in our fate that could explain what happens if we put together what was broken for good reason I see you headed once more to the place where you would go to be amused watching strangers chase elusive highs and fireflies I seem to be the unforgiving one Sitting back sipping slow contemplating my next move but look closer I'm not breathing anymore I'm not breathing I'm not breathing anymore I'm not breathing
6.
Birdsong junkie In the city Such abstraction Well it's a pity There's too much meaning in All that you do I don't get it I never do Buy me something Show some love Dali tattoo Vinyl drug Now I know what you are Shouldn't we be scared Mirrors mirror How we break Birdsong junkie Dull your pain All these causes All your rage It seeps into all these cracks That we've helped create You dont get it And so we'll break
7.
River's Edge 04:28
when the seasons change but your life it seems to stay the same still and quiet its a paradox minutes slow but the years keep speeding up see them go Now the birds have flown Flown away Will you know what to do With yourself Are you going back To those things Used to define you then But then is then When you're standing on The rivers edge, baby Will you step into The flow of time, baby Yes the waters fine Just fool yourself, baby No don't worry now Come in knowing I am here for you Is it just another one Of those times You cant see all the way To the end Of this road that we're Walking on What if there is no end What's on goes on Well we're standing on The rivers edge, baby Will we step into The flow of time, baby Yes the waters fine Lets fool ourselves, baby No don't worry now Come in knowing I am here for you

You said come in mind your head you know that ceiling it may seem a little low And you cleared away the carpet said can we just sit here on the floor You poured yourself a drink and the ice was melting faster than you think We were high on nothing much we were racing to catch up with living slow Sweetness follows everywhere you go Sweetness follows everywhere you go High or low We listen to the records and talk about the music that we know Yeah we're staring at a future that's hazy out of reach out of control If I lie another time you'll just stare me in the eye until I blink I lie This summer in a day we're just wasting it away the way we know Sweetness follows everywhere you go Sweetness follows everywhere High or low There'll be a day We look back at this time... and say How it slipped away, yeah it slipped away And time goes flying by Yeah time goes flying by And time goes flying by, it's flying by, it's flying by... You said come in mind your head Lets keep it low We're high on nothing much Living slow A little time is all we get A little time is all we have

about

This is me putting out a few of the songs I've been writing and recording since The Second Shift (band I used to be in) wound down a few years ago. Making an album is hard, it involves dealing with very many things – selecting songs, recording live drums, mixing using newfound plugins and gear, figuring the Mastering and CD production process – it’s a long list. I was lucky - I had help! Shamir Biswas recorded the drums on his home setup in Delhi, Prasun Basu did the vocals on his home setup in Bangalore. The collaboration was wonderful, easy, and the warm glow of seeing mails with download links to vocal or drum takes has filled my belly often these last six months.

The songs, they're about a few things - relationships, distances, growing up, realizing that a little time is all we get. They have guitars in them. The cover art has been done by David Nino Kochino – of Bogota Colombia, whose art I discovered on Getty Images of all places. I like wolves. And Robots. Everybody should.

One more thing. To me this album is really about that crazy mad drive to create something. Some of you folks will listen, and like the music - that’s all one needs. So listen. I hope you like the songs.

For the Gearheads:

Fender Strat, Ibanez Artcore AS 103, Merida guitars. Squire Vintage Modified Jazz Bass. Vox AC30 and Laney LC15 Amps, with JJ tubes. AKG c214, Sennheiser e906, Shure SM 57 and 58 mics. Pedals by Xotic, Lovepedal, Maxon, MXR, BOSS, ZVex and BBE. Yamaha keys and Akai MPD pads. Cubase. Toontrack, Ampeg, Waves, Slate Digital, Valhalla plugins. The mighty RME Babyface, Equator D5s, and a beat up PC.

Thank Yous:

Juni for listening and critiquing the music, and asking me why I haven’t written the Pitbull songs he likes, Shikha for the love, encouragement, patience, and for buying me all the gear! Ratul for always listening and pushing me to do more. Ankur for lighting the way when it came to mixing. Shamir and Prasun for making the songs happen.
